My PSU was just about to hit the 4 Year mark but it died last week from a power surge I think. I had an OCZ GameXtreme 750W. I'd like to find a replacement that is affordable yet still of decent build quality. What I would really like is the Seasonic S12D 850 but it's a bit out of my price range right now. Here is my system, Intel Q9550, 8GB Ram, Radeon 4850 1GB, 5 HDDs, 1 SSD, 2 ODDs.

you dont need a 850, if you like seasonic get a 650w model, it will be cheaper.

A quality 550W PSU is more than enough. With a 650W PSU you will be able to do CF with two 4850 and extreme overclocking.

Here you have some good options:

ANTEC TruePower New 650W (by Seasonic) (modular)

COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M 600W (by Enhance Electronics) (modular) (only two PCIe connectors)

CORSAIR HX650W (by Seasonic) (modular)

ENERMAX LibertyEco (ELT620AWT-ECO) 620W (modular)
ENERMAX Modu82+ (EMD625AWT) 625W (modular)
ENERMAX Modu87+ (EMG600AWT) 600W (modular)

Any 500w-550w will suffice (Corsair, Antec, Seasonic), and if you CF a 650w would be a good choice. 750w-850w is going a bit overboard.

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to make sure I had room to expand. 650W is kinda what I had in mind but the S12D 850 just seemed like a great deal for the price since the X650 costs the same. I will most likely go with the Corsair. Thanks again.

Before you buy, might want to look at the Antec True Power New 750W, it is actually $10 cheaper than the 650W at newegg at the moment. $89. Excellent power supply for the money, Seasonic made, partially modular.
