OCZ 4x1gb PC6400 DDR2 C4, MSI K8N Neo2, Ath 64 XP 4400+

Hi

Today I ordered 4x1gb of OCZ PC-2 6400 C4 DDR2 memory, as I intend to upgrade this weekend to Vista.

I currently have 4x 512mb of PC5300 (I think its 5300) which has been working like a dream for a year or so.

My question is this - Will the memory work in this mobo/cpu configuration?
I know I wont see the full speed benefits of the PC6400, but I will be building a new machine in the next 2-3 months with a Core 2 duo or whatever decent AMD chip is about at that time.

This is an interim measure and hoping I havent wasted the effort in having to return for something that is compatible.

Advice appreciated.

Sounds like you are trying to stick DDR 2 into a DDR 1 board.

The K8N Neo 2 is an Nforce 3 board, so you will need 184 pin DDR1 memory, not DDR2.

i got 2 pair of these in an MSI board, with an Opteron 175. works good.
