October 17th, and snow on the ground

Driving home yesterday it was in a driving snow storm. Everything froze solid overnight, and there is snow and ice on the ground. Took me double the time to get into work this morning, and I came damn close to hitting a deer who decided to play dodge-the-car at the last second rather than the usually favoured jump-through-the-windshield game.

I'm hoping the snow doesn't stick around, and it shouldn't but still ... winter is here. Time to fire up the gaming machine :)

Time to move south. Try Texas, I hear Canadians fit in real nicely in Texas. :p

I hope we have a snowy winter. We've hardly had any snow for the past couple of years.

Can't do it ... although I would dearly love to be able to golf year round. However, I do love the season changes, and don't mind the cold too much. October and November are always pretty crappy here, snow, rain and cloudy skies a lot of the time. The golf courses are closed, and indoor sports don't really start up too much until December.

I'm hoping for a really snowy winter as well, since there is good cross-country skiing in my neck of the woods. Might as well go for good ski conditions if I can't golf :p

I'm not quite to the latitude where it is tundra ... but I'm getting pretty close ;) And I don't take offense to that, as I do enjoy the winters, and crisp sunny skies.

October 17th, North Texas, we hit 88 degrees (yesterday), and will hit the same temp today, the 18th. ;)

Of course, that's unseasonably warm for this time of year, when we should only be in the 70's.

Yeah, if fall and spring could both be stretched another month, it would be ideal. Oh well, I've chosen to live here I suppose.

However, after a long and cold winter, is there anything better than getting outside in a t-shirt and shorts for the first time?

lol nice pic Durocshark!!

Patt, you've gotta be one of the northernmost members! What happened to that "frapper" map - that was pretty cool. I'll have to check to see if anyone is north of you, but I doubt it. :)

I'm in the southernmost part of Canada... right at the bottom of Michigan :)

We're pretty much the same longitude as northern California. :sun:

Yeah, but you have to deal with humidity thanks to the Lakes ... I hardly ever do :)

That is a great pic of the VW DurocShark. Reminds me of the van we had in Australia.

As for the frapper thing, I think I was the north-most member who put something on there, but I know there are a few Alaskans on the board too.
