OC'ing with a POWMAX PS

Anyone heard of this brand? I bought it about a year ago, it's a 400W PS. Here's the link to my model: Powmax 400W atx LP6100-D
When you get to that link, just click on ATX under the 6100x series, then click on the 400W link. It should take you to the LP-6100D page.

SO my question is, will I be alright with this power supply if I want to O/C my Tbred B up to 2.2GHz? (I have good cooling, and good hardware.. just unsure of the PS)

Your thoughts are appreciated.
 
I've heard of them but thats about it. They are not currently approved by AMD but that doesn't mean you can't overclock with them.
 
i owned a 250watt powmax psu
they seem to be well built psu's
you should be fine with that 400watter while overclocking
just watch yur rails to get an idea of how the psu is holding out

 
How do I find out if it is holding out alright? Like.. what is "Alright"? I looked at the PC Health status on my Epox board. All the voltages were just barely above default, except for the 12V rail. It was at 11.8V. Is that ok?
 
That is within specs of + or - 5%....Trying loading it and see what those voltages do...Look for large drops and wild fluctuations.....


I have heard of them but I have heard of a few having issues with them but mainly with p4s and that could be do to a weak 12v rail....My enermax runs 12.04-12.08 and never drops below 12 with my system oc'd as below and prime loaded.
 
I have a few. Got a 300W (LP-6100C) in my socket 478 Celeron 2.0 which is currently at 3.0GHz (150MHz FSB, MSI 645E Max motherboard). Got an older 400W unit like yours except pre-P4 12V in an older system with an Abit BX133-RAID board (various overclocked CPUs). Got a 500W unit (LP-6100E) in my other Celeron system (Abit VH6T, Celeron 1.1@1.46). I also have a spare 500W unit still shrinkwrapped in the box. These power supplies are decent - better than the cheapies that come with most cases, but not as good as the premium brands. Basically you get what you pay for. These are medium price for medium quality/performance. I ended up with so many of these because I got them cheap on auction.

Don't confuse these better quality dual fan units with the cheaper Powmax LP-7700 series of power supplies. Those are single fan units with supposed high power ratings (300/350/400W available) that weigh about 1/2 as much as the LP-6100 series units. I have about 5 dead ones around here (still under warranty, haven't gotten around to RMAing them). While the 6100 series are good for the price, the 7700 series, IMO, aren't worth considering.
 
That seems pretty good considering that you have a 300W PS with a 2.0 OC'ed to 3.0. Do you have a lot of other stuff running? My case comes with 5 92mm case fans, all on the 12V rail. I also have 2 CPUS running, so it seems like if I downgraded to a single CPU, I'd be able to OC no sweat.
 
Be careful that is a celeron and I don't think they are necessarily equal to compare to...

My 350 watt sparkle could not handle my full oc to over 2.4ghz and sparkle IMO is a far better brand....I went to antecs and enermax and rails are tight. I recently got a 430 getting ready for a 3-3.4GHZ cpu...
 
Yes, that system is a Celeron, so it doesn't suck up too much juice. I'm running one CDROM and a single hard drive. Also, a single Panaflo 80mm fan (not L1A, something noisier) and a Geforce3.
