Anyone have performance numbers or a review on platforms with all factory defaults vs the same system with everything overclocked and optimized?

Typically when I build a machine the CPU, FSB, and memory is overclocked before starting the Windows install. Windows is next disabling services, tweaking the registery, partitioning, etc. Then the VGA card gets pushed to it's limit.

Usually takes me 12 hours to a day on an unfamiliar platform (going from socket 939 NF4 to a P35 775 for example) and if it's just a part upgrade 2-3 hours tweaking voltages, timings, etc.

Started thinking about what kind of returns I'm getting for this work. I don't think I've actually tested what a stock system gets vs something completely optimized.

Never had a problem with it. Once it boots run Orthos to make sure it's stable.
