How well are these overclocking? I'm considering one over a 2.6C if they overclock well, but I can't seem to find much data. At min I want 250 fsb (3.5GHz).

I have one right now and the overclocking is about average, can get around 230 to 235 fsb with my setup. I only have Corsair 3200 DDR and not the LL so that might be the cause.

Tried 240 FSB windows locked booting I havent spent alot of time trying it so dont just take my word for it cause I have seen some at 250 FSB with higher DDR memory.

Right now the 2.4 and 2.6 seem to do better with the lower multiplier.

My 2.8C (OEM Dell pull) tops out @ 3.15GHz / 225 FSB. It will not go further regardless of raising the VCore or playing with RAM dividers. :( I tweaked the 2.8C / IC7-G / TwinMOS BH-5 for a few days to find 3.15GHz rock solid.

Oh well, better luck next time..... At least my RAM does Street Racer settings @ 1:1 / 450MHz. :)

Hummm...not too encouraging so far. I have 2x256 of OCZ PC3700 Gold, so ram shouldn't hold me back. I have an IS7 but I may sell it for an IC7, however, I need to order a CPU soon. Anymore 2.8C peeps out there?

I have a 2.8c and a IS7-e
I can take her to 3.5, but for some reason the O/C doesn't give me any gains.
IE: benchmarks don't get any better with the speed change.
I think that it's the IS7 holding me back.

Got a 2.8C and am running stable at 236mhz FSB - 3.3ghz (on a P4P800 board) Using TwinX PC3700 ram so have my mem ratio at 1:1. Tried to go higher but nothing was stable. Not sure whether its my CPU or ram.

But then again 3.3ghz is still a 500mhz overclock so I can't be too unhappy!! :)

I am thinking about trying the 2.6C next. So far the Overclockers.com database shows:

Total Entries in Database for Pentium 4 2.8 800 - 19

Average overclocked speed - 3392 Mhz

Total Entries in Database for Pentium 4 2.6 800 - 21

Average overclocked speed - 3474 Mhz

My system is freaking out at 220fsb at 1:1 ratio, and im just pulling my hair out trying to solve it. I don't wanna go to 5:4 cause there goes all my freaking mem bandwith. I wanna at least get this 2.8 to 3.2..

Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like the 2.6C is the best CPU for OCing today.

Intel is likely yielding (ie binning) nothing below about 2.8G these days. 2.6's and 2.4's are likely to be downbinned from the entire speed distribution population just so Intel can serve this chunk of demand. However 2.8's could still be binning by actually being at the low end of the speed distribution curve.

In other words you're likely to get a higher speed CPU by buying a 2.4 or 2.6 than getting a 2.8 which actually fails at class test at the higher speeds. Data suggests this is really what's happening.

Koolance case, Abit IS7-G, P4-2.4C at 3.50GHz (250fsb, voltage 1.7) using Corsair Twinpack PC3200LL(2 X 512 sticks), ATI Radeon 9800. The water temp is at 31 degrees celsius which is quite low. The system seems really stable at 3.4Ghz, some issues appear in certain games at the 3.5 Ghz speed.

I don't know if this the max of this Cpu or should I order the Corsair DDR500 memory and try that. It's real pricey.

I guess I should be happy running at this o/c speed.
