I'm trying to OC my friends T-Bird 800 to at least 1-1.1 Gigs, I already used the defogger kit, etc. Right now it's at 950mhz, i set the multiplier for 9.5x. My question is, why can't i change the FSB? Everytime I change it, it goes back to 800Mhz, can somebody tell me in detail what the hell i have to do. Oh yea, If i set the Multiplier for 10X, it won't run stable, the comp will lock up and all games will mess up 2.

Thanx,
Nore

is this on the asus a7v? if so, make sure all the fsb jumpers are set to OFF so that you can change the fsb in the bios. what kind of ram is it? is the information in your sig the system you're talking about?

He has almost the same setup as me, except he has cheaper CD-Rom, Cheaper Sound Card, etc. and he has a 800 T-Bird, and yea he has an ASUS A7V, so I change the FSB from the BIOS, not the board?

Peace,
Nore

I think it has something to do with the PNY RAM cuz I have the exact same situation as you did except that I have a KT7 board. The weird thing is that with my T-bird at stock 800, i can push the FSB and run the RAM at 140 to 143 at Cas 3. When i set the multiplier to 9.5, i can't overclock the FSB for squat. Anybody have any situations?

it says specifically in the manual that if you move the jumpers off of the default setting, and then try to change the fsb in the bios, that when you reboot, it'll only go to the default speed. read the hardware setup section of the manual very carefully.

as far as not booting when you change the multiplier, try upping the voltage. make sure you have adequate cooling of course. the voltage settings can be altered in the bios under vcore setting of the advanced menu. hit user define and try something higher than 1.7.
