I have had my Barton 2500+ for some time now. I OCed it to 3000+ but to attain that i had to bump my Vcore up to 1.8. Am i just one of those unlucky guys who didn't get an awesome OCing chip. I wanna OC to 2.5Ghz or 3200+ but im concerned about the voltage.

If i try to lower it below that Prime 95 fails so 1.8 is the bare minimum Vcore voltage.
(67C load)
(58C Idle)

I guess this is because im feeding it so much voltage?

Multipliers are unlocked. The only way for me to attain a 3000+ or 3200+ or up is to set FSB at 200 (400). If i dont use FSB @ 400 my multipliers somehow underclock my speed to 1100mhz.

Your idle temperature is very high... whats your ambient temps inside / outside case? What type of HSF do you have on this processor (is it properly mounted)? 1.8V isn't terribly high... I think your problem may be a combination of HSF, dust, case ventilation, and ambient temp.

Also, are there any jumpers on your motherboard to switch from 100FSB to 133/166FSB? Your barton is by default 11 x 166 = 1826 (1.83GHz) it seems that the 1100MHz is it being jumpered to 11 x 100 = 1100

those are very high temps, WAAAY above what can be explained by your voltage. Are you sure the HSF is mounted correctly? Do you have any case fans?

It's best to keep the load temperatures under 50C or so, idle in the low 40's to high 30's. A bit hotter than that isn't bad, but your temps are really high.

Yes i have the HSF mounted properly. It is the stock one that came with the CPU. I have 4 3000RPM case fans. 2 came with my chieftec case (sunon) and 2 i bouhgt (modware). There definately not panaflos... im not sure on the airflow tho. Also my ambient temps is hovering around 80C.
The case fans are mounted as follows: front in rear out. (its a Chieftec dragon case) As for dust... i just recently cleaned the case out.
Im PRETTY sure i have everything jumpered correctly. But ill check.
Thx

Edit: I just noticed that the Northbridge HS is very hot. Is that a problem? Yes it is jumpered right also.
