Full ram specs are two posts above yours...And I do have it set there now at 12x240. (3-4-4-8-12-2T)
It seems like whatever I do, whenever I try to cross the 2.9 threshold it fails prime. The question is - is the ram or the cpu? Given the sub 200 speeds on the ram (via cpu-z) i'm guessing it's the cpu. The temps never cross 48C/48C so i don't think it's heat. I've also seen two schools of thought. One, as mentioned here, that says I can get his chip to 3.2ish if I go to after market cooling. The other being that this chip maxes out between 2.8 and 3.0. I probably ought to do memtest since that should eliminate the cpu from the equation more. Is there anything symtomatic of the chip being too hot? freezing, failing prime, etc? or is it simply going to be trial and error to figure out which one is at fault?
