Opteron 170 is the 2.0ghz 10x200 version

i can run at 280x10 (dual fx-57s) at 1.55 volts

i usually run at 275x10 at 1.475 volts.

so which one do i choose?

however, i think i an getting screwed somehow. when using DVD shrink, i get bsods at both. max stable is 267x10

BUT i am scmark stable!

load temps are 237 and 38 respectively on sciencemark 2.0

Help me?

BSOD's are usually memory related...i think you'll find your answer there. Oh, I'd run the first setting for performance and drop it to the second for 24/7 general computing.

Are you prime95 stable? Have you used memtest? VStrom is probably right in suspecting that you have a memory problem.

All that aside, 275x10 @ 1.475 vcore is probably your max safe overclock. 1.55 vcore is a bit much, and all you get is 50 mhz out of it!

Is the 1.55v too much?>
I wanted the dual fx-57's!
my temps are unusually lower than i expected - 38 is not high, right? I thought only temps killed procs.
oh yeah my RAM doesnt even run at ddr400 properly. i dialed it down to ddr 186 and its ok now. no more bsods.

yeah my opteron is stable with heavyload, prime95 and pifast sciencemark and superpi all at once for 5 hours.

Drop your memory to 166, if you haven't already. Then you should be able to tell if the cpu has reached it's limit.

Most probably the ram - had to replace a 400MHz ram on one of my friends system - BSOD when OC - ram @ 386 then!!! So try to go as close to 400 as possible or down to 333! And dont forget to run 2xPrime95 - copied in 2 different directories
Acctually there is great THEAD on overclocking (X2 information included) - u can fight all the answers in the 1st post of it!
