OCing HELP PLEASE!!!!

I have an Abit KR7A-133 motherboard (kt266a) with a AMD XP 2100+ revision B from newegg.com CPU, with an Aero 7+ heatsink and Fan. The temperature at normal XP2100 speed reads in the 30's degree Celsius.

I have been trying to overclock it, but everytime I change my FSB and/or my Multipliers, my computer wont boot. what would you reccommend I do first in steps to attemp to overclock it???
Anyone Please!

try upping the fsb first.. it may be that the board doesn't like it when you change the mult settings

or do it the other way... move the mult and leave the fsb...

see what happens...

if i OC with a 512 chip of ram that isnt that great, could that make my comp not boot? the ram i have is a 512 pc2100 Kingston.

Maybe...kt266a is rated for 266MHz DDR FSB...so I wouldn't really think about pushing it much farther out of spec (say 150 FSB as max?). I don't have any personal experience with this chipset, but I do know that TBred Bs will do upwards of 200MHz FSB (NOT DDR). I would say if you have the money and the time then buy yourself a new motherboard with at least a KT333 or KT400(a). Also, RAM rated for higher FSB might help also.

First you might try pumping your vcore by .1 - .15v as a beginning (My KT7A undervolted badly). Turn your vdimm up to 2.7v. Then up your fsb by 10mhz to begin with, just to see if you have some other problem.

Are you using a good powersupply?

Edit: Turn the timings on the memory down to the lowest they go and change the memory ratio. (I believe that board has memory ratio setting.) Take your memory out of the loop so to say.

Edit#2: If you do break down and get another board, don't waste your time with VIA. Jump right to nforce 2 (I like the Epox 8RDA+)....
