I'm trying to get this to read the correct memory. It has 3200 DDR in it right now but was only showing it as 2100. Changed from SPD to 4:5 and got it to read 2700. I've tried to get it to read right by increasing the FSB but it just wont change. I got the 2.4 P4 up to a 2.75 but the RAM still read 2700. Also at the 2.75 the os would not boot (winxp pro). Lowered it down to a 2.60 and got into the os worked fine there until we played UT2K3 the system rebooted. Put it back to 2.4 w/ 2700 DDR and it looks like I'm stuck here until I figure out how to get the memory upped but not the CPU. This system is for my wife so she wants it to say 2.4 and 3200. Any Clues how to do this?

Thanks in advance,
KnS

To get it to run PC 3200, you will need to have your memory running at 200 MHz (400 DDR). I am not too familiar with your board, so you might want to list the ratios that you have available. At default speed, you would need to use a 2:3 ratio to get PC 3200 or DDR 400. You can also get it at 150 FSB with the 3:4 or 160 with the 4:5. Your computer is crashing because it is being overclocked topo far. When you run it at anything over 2.4 GHz you are overlcocking. You will have to raise the voltage and/or cooling on your CPU if you wish to overclock it very far. If I were you, I would do all I could at default speed and with the RAM at PC2700 which is DDR-333. You want the wife's computer stable above all else!

Thanks for the info I was wondering where i could get mor info on the X:X and FSB speeds. I tried the 2:3 ratio earlier but could not get a post now after first attempt i got a Long POST beep and that was all rebooted and it posted fine and shows 2.4 and PC3200 thanks. But now when i boot sometimes it gives me a BIOS Checksum error and also say no keybaord detected. I changed the usb to a ps/2 but sometimes i still get the bios checksum error. Should I reflash the bios?

Thanks for the help.

Raise your ddram voltage to 2.6 or 2.7 for more stability. It won't hurt the ddram.

It sounds like a memory error to me. Try raising your voltage as suggested. You can go up to 2.8 safely. Also, the 2:3 ratio, from what I have seen, has not been particularly stable for this chipset. If you keep getting BIOS checksum error, you might need to turn it down a notch to get things running smoothly.

Ok will do as soon as I get home. Is there a site I can goto to learn more about how voltage affects the devices and also more on the diffrence between the X:X and stuff like that I'm old to computers but new to overclocking. Thanks for all the help guys.
