OCing a Celeron 700? Which mobo to use?

Anyone have any experience with this? Of the boards I have (Asus P2B-F, Abit BX6R2, Soyo 6VBA133) which is likely to be the best OCer for a Celeron? Is the Soyo just overkill for Celerons since it has native 133, and I don't think I've ever seen a report of a Celeron doing 133?

You might be able to find something in the Celeron Spec Update document. I believe this was updated as of Oct. 2000. It's kind of large but your chip may be there. You have to select how you want to retrieve/view it (links at bottom of page update page...).

Someone else suggested checking Overclockers DB and doing a search for your chip. Of course, I checked and there's an amazing 4 entries for that chip! You can expect to get 933Mhz out of it (according to them).

Hey, how are ya Geoff? Got yourself nice chip... But, I honestly don't know how successful you'll be with it. CII700 has 10.5 multiplier... so, you're looking into 1050mhz if successful... (kinda doubt it would tho...)

As for the mobos, I would first check their websites for bios updates that could support that high multiplier. If anything, I think the Abit might... I don't think Soyo would be an overkill. I think you should test it and see which one gives you the most stability (then again, if I'm correct, it's a VIA chipset, right? oh well...). I'm very interested in this as well, as I'm getting a CII633 & currently looking into couple of BX mobos to oc it with...

Temujin: I think those guys at OC Database are confused with CII700 & PIII700... Their S-spec's are all PIII cB0's... Correct link for CII

maxSe - thanks! Wouldn't post at 100@1.65v, so 1050 is out (what a surprise ) Would juicing it more make a difference at this point, or is that just to take care of stability issues?

Posted and into Win98 fine at 83 (874) with retail hs/fan combo. I guess I'll let it run for a while and see what happens. Unfortunately, neither the Asus nor the Abit have fbs settings between 83 and 100. The Soyo, however, does Does the Via chipset OC well?

Geoff, I would put more juice on that. A lot of times, I see guys running oc'd CII's @ 1.8v and above. The 83fsb is nice, but I would be weary of PCI bus running at 41~42. That may put more stress/instability than any other, and that why I like to run either 100 or 133 (depending on the chips), so that my PCI bus are running within spec (33~34). Juice it up & see what happens (btw, I won't be liable for fried chip! )

I have nothing against the Soyo mobo and VIA's ability to oc. It's just that VIA boards (from my personal experience) tend to be unstable... lmk & have fun! (oc'ing can be addictive...)

MaxSe - you are going to have better much better success with the C633@950. Many people(including me) are running these with stock heat sink/fan at about 1.8V. Mine will post and go to windows over 1 gig, but stability is not there.

Geoffs - I think your going to have to be happy with and 83FSB. The P2B-F is an excellent choice for that.

Well, I will give the Soyo a shot this weekend... it seems to have several more options between 83 and 100... if I can get stability at 90, the PCI bus is running back in spec... 90 shouldn't be that much of a leap from 83, should it?

I've returned 2 soyo mobos. They suck. The first one didn't work, the second burned out the ps2 mouse port... alone with my mouse.
