O'Cing 3000+ Venice W/ Asus Star Ice Cooler

I'm try to o'c my 3000+ venice with an Asus Star Ice cooler. I am topping out at 2.4GHZ that seems to run stable (with games at least... haven't done any official burn in) but I can't hit 2.5 GHZ which was my goal. Is this normal? I could easily hit 2.2ghz++ with Stock cooling. I would of thought a $50 cooler would of helped.

You've followed this guide entirely?

Using RAM divider?

BTW, 2.4 isn't bad.

It seems to be the highest i can run my 3200+ too.
Disappointing yes, but still, 400 MHz is nothing to complain about.

three things may limit oc
ram divider
HT multiplier
sata hooked to unlocked port
pci/AGP unlocked
voltage cpu
voltage memory?
chipset and memory cooled?
what thermal paste and how did you apply it?

check motherboard forums to see what others are doing with your motherboard
ok there was four- I'm dyslexic
what temps are you getting?
good case cooling
ups FIVE THINGS
good powr supply
post back with answers to above plus your timings and other settings

wyrmrider

ps do not just pump more voltage at it
memory takes a whaile to burn in- did you burn in your memory?

bottom line LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES
leave no stone unturned

I don't hardly know what ram diviider or HT multipliers are...
SATA no.. still have and IDE HDD
I have PCI-E.... how/should I unlock it?
I haven't tried raising cpu voltage yet....duh
I have an A8N-E with Tt 480 Watt PSU, Antec case great cooling

Oh lordy...you need to do a little research.

Read that thread i linked to in my first post. Then post your full rig specs in your original post.

You cannot expect to OC without knowing a little of what you are doing first.
