Hey guys wondering if anybody has any suggestions. I haven't really overclocked that much before.

I can safley oc this easily if i crank the FSB to 220 - 225 it posts. If I push to 230 without adjusting anything i just get a black screen after post.

I have tried lowering the RAM speed but nothing really works.

My RAM is PQI 512MB 3200 -- I know it's not the greatest ram for overclocking but I am wondering what timings if any i could use for this RAM to raise the FSB?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

do you mean you changed the ram divider? if not, try doing that, i currently have mine set at 3/4 with a HTT at 266 roughly for my A64 2800. Otherwise maybe its the cpu. Beyond 2.7 ghz I think you are limited anyway.

In the BIOS I can go from 100 - 200 or Auto for ram speed And I believe each speed has a divider already when you select it if i remember correctly. I tried every setting from 100 - 200 to Auto and can't get a POST past 230 FSB so i think there is another BIOS setting i'm needing to adjust

ok, this is like the fifth time I ask this question this week...

did you lower your hypertransport multiplier/frequency?

Yeah, you need to drop your LDT down to 3x in this case, & set up a RAM divider.

The ram divider is when you change the speed correct?

I don't see an option for a ram divider

I also tried lowering the LDT down to 3x

The speed between a 3000+ and a 3400+ shouldnt even be close, the 3400+ has a 20% higher clockspeed.

DJLunacy: are you using the stock cpu multiplier? if so then you might be hitting the cpu's limit at that voltage: 220x12 is 2640MHz.

1st of all : 3000->3400 is a small performance jump..dont expect a huge difference

2nd: read up on what the HTT is and then start OCing your cpu...you need to understand a little more before you get "upset"...

Yeah I don't think I lowered the CPU multiplier.

I'm pretty sure I can increase the voltage to the CPU in the BIOS

Keep us updated i have a 3400 on the way wondering what the overclocks are going to be like...

I am looking to run 1:1 220*12=2.6GHz 440mhz ram and if that runs cool i will be happy
