have you tried putting a fan over that area?

since i have a fan blowing on my ram, it also cools the pwm area as well.

try it. it should lower the heat around there.

with the risk of soundign redundant, i have to saw you are the man John

the fan helped quite a bit

would a high temp in that region limit the OC?

yes!

pwm getting hot can limit your o/c.

DFI gets really hot. Rediculous really..even at stock speeds it gets too hot. I run silent so that means hardy any air flow going though case.. someday my board is going to go poof!

How much voltage are you running through your ram? The hs is in the area of the jp-17 jumper. The jumper allows the memory to be fed off the 5v rail instead of the 3.3v rail. If you are using the 5v rail, that area will get hot. It is not recommended to run the voltages under 3.3v if using the 5v rail....

Right on the money, if you are using the 5V rail to power your vdimm then that heatsink gets smokin' hot. Cool it with a fan or use the 3.3V rail for vdimm.
