OC'ed Ti200 = Ti500?

Quick question I've been wondering for a while:
Does a Ti200, overclocked to retail Ti500 speeds and properly cooled, give the same performance one might expect from a Ti500 straight out of the box, or are there any other hardware differences besides clock speeds that would potentially limit the Ti200?

Indeed, most Ti200s have no trouble going to or past Ti500 levels. Why do you think we all recommend Ti200s?

Yeah, of course...I was just wondering if there was anything at all beyond speed that gives a Ti500 a performance or quality boost over the Ti200, that's all. If not then anyone who buys a Ti500 should be dragged out in the street and shot. Unless you can overclock them to absolutely ridiculous speeds, of course...but I hear you really can't. Anyone tried?

That is the only difference, clock speed. I don't think you'd have much luck overclocking a ti-500, it's already clocked at pretty much as far as it's possible for it to go atm.

Hmm.. I was under the impression that the Ti200 is suppose to use slower memory chips and weaker cores. I think it's also suppose to have a 6 layer PCB instead of an 8layer like the Ti500. Depends on how the manufacturer makes the card though. There are atleast 3 Ti200 cards using the same GPU & PCB as the Ti500. Not sure about the memory.

I'm not sure about exact specs and the 6/8 layer thing could be the wrong numbers. This is just what I picked up from reading these forums. The cards configurations vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. So yeah, they will preform about the same but that doesn't mean that they would be the same.

If I'm not mistaken, I've heard of an asus ti500 clocked to 260/600. I don't think I've heard of any TI200's getting that high. Not much of a difference IMO but some people like that little bit of performance gain:)

Since were on the quantispeed type video card discussion...

What do you call an overclocked Ti500 @ 585 and 270. A Ti800 maybe????:)

Have not tried more yet and probably wont. I am using a 120 mm case fan for slot cooler, copper ramsinks, crystal orb.

Well most Ti200's can overclock to Ti500 speeds but overclocking is never a guarantee, and it's definitely not a safe assumption to say the all Ti200 are definitely going to hit Ti500 speeds. Besides, even if they do hit Ti500 speeds then the actual Ti500 can assuredly overclock higher still and re-attain it's usual performance advantage over the Ti200.

Obviously the Ti200 offers a vastly superior price/performance ratio, but if one has the money then I'd certainly rather a true Ti500.
