Video driver always crashes when I start from sleep mode. System either freezes or crashes to a white or tiled screen where I must hard reset. This only happens when I shoot from sleep mode. Any ideas why this is happening?

Card: XFX 6950 Unlocked @ 960/1400 @ 1.25V

Sleep mode should be taken out of windows in all honesty, it causes more problems with more hardware than any other software feature known to man.

Meh. I kind of like it, it just needs to be implemented better imho

Have you installed the latest drivers from the GPU manufacturer?

I tend to agree with this.

It's not Windows fault. You don't see this kind of trouble on laptops under Windows, as the entire kit is tested and fixed if problems arise. The problem is uniquely a desktop problem, as hardware manufacturers are doing a poor job sticking to specs and an even worse job of plug testing, and as a result products are being released that are just a bit off (not communicating within the required amount of time, etc).

If manufacturers could get this right we could have had things like Optimus at the same time it was rolled out into laptops, rather than the current situation where we're still waiting.

Sleep in windows isn't a bad thing as long as your hardware is cooperative. It can cause some issues when overclocked but overall it's a nice feature if you need or want to use it. I currently use it kinda. I set sleep to never in windows but have a sleep button on my keyboard. When I want it to sleep I press the button and it sleeps.

I didn't see anything posted as far as your troubleshooting to solve the issue.

Your issue can also be caused by your CPU overclock as it's a common thing once you push SB's up there. Did you have to enable CPU PLL overvoltage? It's a hit and miss thing which will vary from cpu to cpu <> mb to mb <> and the cpu/mb combo.

Try dropping your overclock down and see if it cures the issue or not. If it does the choice is yours on the to sleep or not to sleep decision. I choose to sleep most of the time, but shutdown works if you got a really fast rig anyways!...SSD for the win :)

If it were not for sleep mode my senile grandmother would never remember how to turn her computer off. " Brian how do I turn the computer off again? " " Don't touch it!! ". Her system does well with it though, on-board graphics, no add-in cards, minimal drivers. Just sucks to see so many people having issues with it.

OP you might try this thread below for a solution as well:

Technically desktops did have those capabilities a few years back with hybrid xFire/SLi...

No one really ever bought into it though...
