Now that the 7600GT is on the scene, and we know stock for stock it will hand a 6800GS its arse....how will the two compare overclocked?

For example, the EVGA 6800GS CO SE vs a stock 7600GT or a EVGA 7600GT Superclocked.

What will the change in performance be once the 6800GS is opened a little? And will a 7600GT be in 7800GT territory once overclocked? Considering the 7600GT Superclocked is running at 220-230 price range, and the 6800GT is still under 210.

What about diffrences in performance in diffrent types of games, like would a 6800GS be better with a RTS as opposed to a FPS?

well the 7600gt could eventually be memory bandwidth limited. i believe the 7600gt has 1200mhz memory 128bit, and the 6800GS has 256bit, so in say 4x fsaa the 6800gs might stil have a chance.

Im just wondering which I should get.

The 7600GT Superclocked is 220 bucks. Thats a little bit more then I want to spend right now...but it would last me for awhile (im hoping two years).

The 6800GS CO SE is 170, but is the highest overclocked 6800GS out, so it should decently well once I overclock it further.

Is spending the extra money worth it though? Especially considering the 7600GT is only a 128 bandwidth interface.

Wish more people would have insite on this... instead everyone is interested in the "IS THE 7900GT as good as the 7800GT?!?!" who cares...they both cost too much...haha (im broke)

If I may...

You can easily find 7800GTs for under $250 these days. I'm pretty sure they're still faster than 7600GTs. I found a bunch for around $200 in January. :D
