using coolbits and the find optimized settings button, I OC'ed my gigabyte silent pipe from 560->630mhz and 1.4ghz->1.59ghz. rebooted and verified it is running at those clocks.

but testing with 3dmark06, my 3dmark score is unchanged (~23xx) but my cpu score dropped about 100 pts from18xx to 17xx. what happened?

I downgraded from forceware 93.71 to 84.21. non OC 3dmark06 = 3245, OC = 3558. CPU score about same, 1840.

all's good :)

(

you almost *doubled* your score from 23xx to 3558 ... well +50% more :p
:Q
... maybe something was wrong with the last driver installation ;)

I was going to say make sure that nothing (GPU or CPU) is throttling.

But it looks like it was just a crappy driver.

I've found the 9x.xx series driver cause Nvidia cards to clock throttle a lot when OC'd resulting in poorer performance...I had this issue with my 7800GS OC and the 9x.xx drivers, the problem went away when I switched to the 84.xx series drivers.

enough to cause a 2300 to 3600 "jump" in 3DMark06?
:Q

i doubt it
