OC'd X2 3800+ is equal to what from Intel

Seems like the 3800+ dualie gets to 2.4 Ghz easily and I was wondering what an intel cpu would have to do to match that (not the Conroes). I got an 805 doing 3.3 Ghz and I was curious how the AMD cpu would match up. Video/audio encoding is my primary concern, not gaming. Thanks.

perdomot, dump the space heater! you're better off getting ANY dual core cpu that's not based on netburst tech.

oh and i'd say an 805 -> 3.6ghz-3.8ghz

Hmm, pentium-d wise, the 3800+ at stock speeds is closest to a 3.4ghz pentium-d. Sometimes the 3.4 is slightly ahead, sometimes slightly behind. You pretty much will need 3.6-3.8ghz to catch an X2 at 2.4ghz.

Core duo(yonah-pentium-m, NOT conroe) is pretty evenly matched clock for clock.
Conroe(Core 2 duo) wise..well, thats another story all together..

Yeah the space heater is starting to bug me a big. Thats why I'm considering an X2 or E6300. The X2 would be easiest because I can just drop it into my Epox rig and jump to 2.4 right away. Got an XP-90 with a 92mm fan to cool it so it should be nice and cool. From what I'm hearing though, its not that big a jump in performance compared to the 805 I got running at 3.3 Ghz. The main advantage seems to be that it runs cooler and uses less power or am I missing something?
