OC'd P4 2.4c or Athlon64?

Will there be much all-around performance difference between these 2 chips?
Are people holding out for the Athlon to be widely available & prices to drop to get one?

Comments?

Thanks!

Since you're virtually guaranteed 3ghz+ the 2.4c is a better price/performance solution, and if you do encoding, mulititasking, or 3D rendering it's the way to go. If you are not on a budget and want the best gaming performance then overclocking the A64 is the way to go. I'm going to go A64/nF3 250 most likely but I'm never an early adopter so I'll wait and see what shakes out first.

Same here...I usually stay one step behind in technology due to lack of cash.
It's been awhile since i've had an AMD setup...last I remember, in order to overclock, one had to get an exacto knife, epoxy, rear-window defogger repair kits, magnifying glasses & a steady hand. Has that changed now? hehe

If you decide on an A64... at least wait for the 939 pin version to come out... by then maybe we'll have a 64 bit version of Windows XP.

i agree, p4 is better deal for now. but what about bartons? they are really good price/performance too

yes the barton are good price/performance but the weakness of AXP is the speed on media encoding. while the Athlon 64 is far better in media encoding compare to AXP. Also wait for 939 pin because it might boost the performance even better.
