OC'd Athlon XP-M vs Athlon 64

Im putting together a new computer for a friend, and was wondering which would perform better, an Athlon XP-M 2400 OC'd to approximately 3400-3500, or an Athlon 64 2800+, 3000+. I was also wondering if OCing the AXP-M will significantly decrease the life of the processor. The A64 option is a bit more expensive but if the newer core gives a significant operformance boost over the AXP-M i'd probably go for that, plus i wouldn't have to Overclock it, which isnt really a problem for me but he isn't great with computers so im not sure how he'd feel about having an OC'd processor.

The A64 at 2.0GHz would be equal to, or better than an XP-M at 2.5GHz.

It won't significantly decrease the life. Not on the procs I've overclocked anyways (I usually upgrade every 2 years though).

According to those benchmarks my Athlon XP-M 2600+ @ 2.665GHz probably keeps up or outshoots an Athlon 64 3200+ - right on...
