I have so many mental problems including depression but gonna try to get help with this one because it's costing me lately and it deals with electronics but i have this thing where if i purchase some kind of electronic like a cell or monitor it has to be perfect meaning no scuffs or scratches whatsoever if there is one i have to keep returning it until i get a perfect item, item can be in good working order but the one blemish drives me insane.Just purchased a hdtv and to my horror scratch on the stand, monitor working ok but that scratch kind of driving me crazy.Anyone else like that if so how do you deal with problem?

Sorry for bad punctuation/ structure as you can tell i have a learning disability been dealing with it since i was a kid,i have so many problems.

I am not quite like that. I focus in functionality. I tend to not care how good something looks if it kicks butt.

If you really want perfection, you have to pay for it. I'm sure someone would be willing to hand select items for you at a suitable upcharge. My suggestion is hitting everything you get with a piece of sandpaper. Get the damage out of the way, and you can concentrate on actually using it. Electronics are tools. Tools are meant to be used and abused to get a job done.

The fact that it works but a little blemish drives you insane drives me insane for some reason.....

I sort of understand your problem since OCD is a constant issue for me but I happen to be really good, too good often, at screening things like that out. To the extent that I notice them at all, they eventually become part of the background noise and disappear.

But if you don't take any meds for OCD I would suggest that you at least try some out. Honestly, none of them ever worked for me but you might get lucky.

What do you do when you have the perfect item and you then happen to scratch or damage it in some way?

Do what I do, every time you get one of those 'perfect' electronic devices, intentionally mar it. Somewhere where you'll see it rather often (not hidden underneath or in the back). Constant exposure to imperfection will probably reduce your anxiety toward it, if it works anything like me anyhow.

Try buying refurbished items that you know will have some type of blemish and try to get used to accepting it. I'm not OCD but when I would buy Dell refurbs and scratch and dent PCs I would expect blemishes and accept them versus buying a new PC and having to deal with a blemish.

If it's a NEW out of box product and it already has a defect I think you have a right to be annoyed, me personally I'm not sure if I would bother returning it, unless it's on the actual screen or otherwise impedes the functionality. The worse is bad pixels. That's an immediate return.

As a side note this is actually one of the things I like about having a used car, I don't have to worry about scratches. But if I paid 30k for a new car I would probably obsess over it because of how much I paid.

Yeah if it is new and there is a scratch it goes back. Really though that should not happen.
