Not sure if anyone posted this yet, but I came across this talk and found it extremely interesting.

The guy goes over some of the promise and challenges of bringing a consumer grade version of VR to reality. One of the issues they are tackling is latency with the current version. The dev models are saddled with around 50ms of latency, and that causes blurring that mars the experience. The good news is that they seem to be able to get the latency down to around 15ms with some prototypes using rendering tricks and what sounded like a strobing effect. The screen refresh rate needs to be more like 90Hz rather than 60 Hz, and the pixel response time of current lcds of around 12 ms seems to be far too slow. In the talk the guy mentioned needing sub 1ms pixel response to get rid of motion blur, and they have a solution in oled...

The number of display changes coming down the pike in this little talk is jaw dropping, it sounds like we are getting higher res oled screens with higher than 60 Hz refresh rates to drive the new vr. Perfect blacks and much better contrast are the wonderful side effect if this takes hold.
