So I decided to play some GT5, pulled out the cockpit, plugged in the Fanatec power and the buttkicker, then turned the wheel on and sat down to play. Instead of the usual display, I got three red dashes on the wheel LCD, and it wouldn't go into PS3 mode.
I rebooted it a couple times, then hit the internet and started searching. I'm reading all these horror stores about the dashes of death, and Fanatec's horrible customer service, and how some people were able to fix it with a firmware flash, etc etc etc.
After about 15 minutes of this, and learning how the procedure worked, I'm about to download the firmware and give it a try when I run across a post talking about how one person had a dead USB port on the PS3, so I went to try another port...I had never plugged in the USB cable...whoops
Plugged in the cable and everything is fine.
Yesterday I rewrote a rather complicated (and completely uncommented) 1500ish line SQL proc that had been broken in an application upgrade that had stumped two other people in my department, today I can't figure out how to plug in 3 cables to play a video game.
Fail.
