Occasional Random system restarts

I've been having a problem with random system restarts (no blue screen, no nothing, just restarts like reset button has been pressed). Especially happens when using MS Word, printing documents, or installations.

I also had a video card die on me in the past week, if that has any revelance.

Specs:

A64 3500+ Venice
ASROCK motherboard with ULi1695 chipset (both AGP and PCI-Express slots)
4x512 DDR PC3200
ASPIRE 500 Watt PSU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817148027)
80 + 40 GB HDs - ATA-100
9800 Pro 128 MB in AGP Slot (used to be 7600GT in PCI-Express slot)

I would think it is the PSU, but values seem normal; if not dead on except the 12v rail.

I'm gonna need recommendations, anything you can think of (preferably not having to cost me anything). I just lost an important document I was typing and would love to resolve this issue.
 
Just a guess... 4x512 ram DIMMS not playing well together, causing memory to error out.

And if you have your windows set to not display BSOD, it will just restart when a blue-screen occurs instead of showing you the actual errors.
 
I'd definitely start with the power supply, it's a cheap unit, and they never last. The fact that you lost a vid card recently makes me lean even more toward that...
 
Its the memory or something related, not the PSU.

I changed the configuration to 2x512 DDR and the CMD Rate back to 1, and it would rarely boot up, and crash upon booting. Tried with different pairs of memory, same thing.

1x512 and stable so far.... Maybe the memory controller?
 
I'm sure you've already done this, but you do have the automatically-restart-on-error option disabled in System Properties right?

I also say craptastic power supply. Ram wouldn't kill a video card, and nothing is coincidental :Q. 1 stick Ram = less power than 2 sticks; since it happens with different pairs, obviously not memory. Don't be afraid to yell defect or RMA time. I did, and lost sanity and time for 3 months. Also, like smthmlk said, make sure the auto-restart is off. Also, check your event viewer for any errors that occur at around crash times.

Add: Might be your mobo?

Blah: Just saw you have the ULI 1695 ASsRock board. Is it the Dual-Sata2 model? I also had random crash/reboots and found out that the SATA ports were all busted (never RMA's, just used IDE. You said ATA-100, so don't think that's your problem.
 
Random reboots are generally memory or PSU. Make sure all your cables are tight - even the power cord as they can look tightly plugged into the back of the PSU and only be partially seated. So try reseating the power cables to the mobo and the AC power cord and the RAM modules.

If that fails try the memory tests listed above - I use all three: Memtest86, Memtest86+ and Microsoft's. Some do miss what others catch.
