OC with drives on Silicon Raid

Hi all,

My first post here. Haven't overclocked anything for quite awhile. I remember the day when my Duron 800 hit 1 gig! It's so much more complicated now. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions.

But for now.

1. I have my HD's on the Silicon Image controller. I'm afraid to try the Nvidia right now because of all the problems I've read about. Since this controller is tied to the PCI bus (right?) can I still OC with my drives on this?

2. If I lock the PCI bus will that solve any problems this might cause?

3. How do I make sure the PCI bus is locked? I've read about this and am still a bit confused.

Thank you in advance

Welcome to the Forums. It would be a good idea to read a sticky or do some research before you start ocing. Basically in your BIOS you want to set your AGP/PCI to 66/33 and that will lock it.

Thanks AristoV300,

I've been reading as much as I can on OC'ing but I couldn't find much on the Silicon Image controller. I had read somewhere you shouldn't use it if you wanted to OC because its tied to the PCI bus. But if you lock it, that wouldn't matter. Right? Or am I really confused?

I'm trying to get this answered before I start OC'ing. If I have to move the drives to the Nvidia controller then I'll wait. I've read to many stories about data corruption etc.

Thanks again.
