Hey all.
So I'm a fairly new Haswell owner. Recently overclocked my 4770k by just increasing the multiplier in bios. I haven't touched anything else.

After doing some reading, it seems like a lot of people talk about increasing voltage to get much over 4.1ghz. Well I haven't touched mine and am at 4.2. Is that normal? I ran prime95 for 12 hours with zero errors and have been gaming/web surfing for over a week now. No issues.

Should I be concerned about damaging the chip if I didn't increase voltage to go with the mild overclock? So 4.2ghz on the same voltage as the stock speed, is ok?
Here's a picture

And 12 hours of Prime95 pushed the temp to about 65c

Yes, you should be concerned. You should be concerned that someone is going to try to find you and take that awesome chip.

now if you better read up and oc that chip properly.

if you dont il swap you with my 4770k and give you my 4.4GHz 24hour prime 95 stable settings

better keep the windows & doors locked or you might come home one day and find you chip is gone from your mobo and replaced with a 386

:awe: Thanks for the replies!

Now I feel better. Was mostly worried about running 4.2 at stock voltage, like if it could damage the chip. But I guess since I haven't had any errors or crashes yet.. win?

im the only one here who got a dog who won't do more than 4.0 on stock (or 4.3 on 1.32)
