OC Question

Hi all,

This is my first OC system and I have a question. I was successfull in overclocking my system but I have a question. Below is my Bios settings

Defaut

Adjusted CPU FSB Frequency = 333
Adjusted CPU Ration = 8
Adjusted CPU Frequency = 2664 mhz

FSB/Memory Ratio = Auto
Adjusted DDR Memory Frequency = 800

Modified and stable

Adjusted CPU FSB Frequency = 375
Adjusted CPU Ration = 8
Adjusted CPU Frequency = 3000 mhz

FSB/Memory Ratio = 1:1
Adjusted DDR Memory Frequency = 750

The question I have is relating to the Adjusted DDR Memory Frequency. I noticed that this setting droped from 800 to 750. Is this drop import for performance? Is it better for performance that I raised the CPU FSB Frequency and had to sacrifice the Adjusted DDR Memory Frequency?

No it's not important for performance. It's simply running 1:1 with the fsb now, which is perfect. You could make it run asynchronous with the CPU fsb, but it will not yield any performance increase.

It can give performance benefits to applications which use memory bandwidth. Things like winzip or winrar for example.

Got benchmarks ? Far as I know winrar/winzip only uses 1 core, and isn't gonna be starved for memory bandwith, not with 4gb. Higher memory frequencies only result in higher benchmark scores in sandra's for example. In real world applications the difference is negligible.
