ok im trying to overlock my e6400 on an ecs 570 sli-a but when i hit 2.4ghz it fails superpi and the system locks up. i have no idea what to do to fix this and i would greatly appreciate any suggestins

EDIT: what do the ram timings have to do with overclocking?

If your system fails a test, it means your system isn't stable. When you overclock a CPU by increasing the FSB, it raises the frequency on the ram, thus putting more stress on the ram. You can fix this by lowering the ram timings, running a divider, or just overclocking by increasing the multipliers. Btw, I'll suggest you use a program like prime95 to test system stability. If it's your cpu that is unstable, lower the fsb or increase the voltage.

Also, I STRONGLY suggest that you read more information on overclocking before attempting as it may cause serious problems if you don't know what you're doing.

well ive never overclocked an intel before, but i have oced an opty on a dfi board and the dfi features were wayyy different than my current mobo and its a bit confusing to me

ECS motherboards are crap. Hate to break it to you like that but next time look at ASUS, Gigabyte, Abit, Epox, MSI, or any of the other recognized brands.
