I currently have this setup running in my backup comp:
P4 520 (2.8ghz, 1mb L2 cache, 800mhz FSB)
Gigabyte GA-81915P DuoA mobo
1 gig o Kingston value RAM (DDR 400)
x800 gto2(16 pipes unlocked @ x850xt PE)
and so on

i need to know if my OC for this setup is pretty good. i am currently running stable at 3.55ghz(pics comin as soon as photobucket stops bein gay) with load temps of 38-39C and idle of 30-31C on air with This cooler(mine has aluminum fins and pushes 77 CFM intead of 55). FSB is at 1016 mhz. my other question is, if i get This RAM will my overclock go up a noticable amount? if not what RAM or other method would make it go up more. i feel failry certain that its the RAM holdin me back as the CPU is runnin at this on stock volts and increasin em doesnt help it POST. any adice would be appreciated and i will get screenies of cpu-z and such l8r.

*EDIT head this one off at the pass, the lowest divider for the mem on this board is 1.66 so the value ram is runnin at 416 mhz at this speed. hence the reason i feel its the RAM. this board does have PCI-express locks so no prob there.

***EDIT*** I lowered the timings on the value RAM to 3-5-5-10 and was just able to push it to 3.65 ghz, gonna reboot and see if i can go higher. same load temps, superpi stable, dont have time for prime right now.

Thanks,
Morgash

3.55ghz is a good OC for that chip. I had a 2.8, and it peaked at 3.5ghz, so you are probably at your chips limit. Are you sure your load temps are really only 38-39c with that little cooler?? Prescotts run very hot, even my water cooled prescotts don't run that cool. Have your run dual prime95 small FTT's to make sure it's 100% stable?

yep prime95 stable 10hrs while i was asleep, and the temp when i woke up and it was still runnin was 39C fully stressed. :) its not a 'little" cooler its a 92mm fan pushin 77 CFM, thats not bad lol.

these temps were verified with gigabyte mobo monitor and speedfan BTW

Those are extremely good temps. One of mine, using thermaltake jungle 512, runs at about 58-60c under full load, and the water cooled one runs at ~55c under load. Have that thing in an air conditioned room or something??

we just have a really good central cooling unit lol. i have the cmp positioned so that the vent for the central heating and cooling unit blows directly on it, so that could be some of it. edited post to show that loosening timings allowed me to push it hgher, gonna see where the wall is now.
