oc question - fsb and mult

im oc'ing my 2500+...i can run it at 200 fsb x 11 mult. stable with ram at 6-3-3-2.....but if i go to 212fsb and 10.5 mult. prime 95 gives me a rounding error unless my ram is at 8-3-3-2.5....i have tried increasing voltage but still cant get higher than 212 fsb

is it better to have ram at something like 11-3-3-2 or 11-2-2-2 and try increasing fsb as much as possible?

correction...i just got a rounding error again with 212x10.5 and ram at 8-3-3-2.5 .....voltage was at 1.750

i cant seem to run it with higher fsb settings (or with ram at 11-3-3-2)
 
When upping the FSB you are stressing your ram.

PC 3200 is only capable of 200mhz stock.

Your Vcore is in a nice place, Up Vdimm ( ram voltage ) 2.8v.. This should give you some added stabilty.

Prime 95 gives you a rounding error because the system is unstable, if you can get it to run for ever 6-8 hours it CAN be considered stable..

Some have different goals..

is it better to try and overclock with ram settings low like 6-3-3-2 or 5-3-3-2?
 
lower settings = higher performance out of the ram, and higher stress. you can either run it at a lower fsb and tighter timings( smaller numbers ), or higher fsb and looser timings ( bigger numbers ) . Overall performance varies rig to rig; the only way to be sure is to benchmark the system in each condition and see for yourself.
