Hi!
A month ago I got an ASUS M4A77D and a Athlon II X3 435. I already had 2 x 2gb of Crucial DDR2-800.
I looked in the BIOS to see what were my OC options.
Having a Athlon II, the only way I can OC is by increasing the FSB. Stock spec of the CPU are 14.5 x 200MHz (2.9GHz).
In the BIOS, ASUS have some OC presets at 2%, 5%, 8% and 10%. I choose 10% for a quick little OC. Everything is running great so far with the CPU at 3.19GHz on stock voltage and heatsink/fan.
The thing is, the memory is now DDR2-880...I already have some things explained to me in an earlier post I made in the video cards forums, but OC talks are done here so here I am.
How can I OC my CPU without OCing the RAM?
Should I lower the RAM FSB to say 333MHz instead of 400MHz and compensate on the CPU FSB?
I'm at a loss here...looks like the CPU and RAM FSBs are "linked"...
