Since nobody bothered to look in the dual core opteron thread, I figured I'd post this in it's own thread. I can't wait till these things start shipping in quantity.

3.2 ghz

It's a single core, almost the same as a 3000+ venice but with a 1 meg cache and obviously a different core.

So it's like a 3.2 Sandy. Still, that's amazing on air. Heck yeah.

I ve seen one running at 2700 without any problems but this is insane. Looking forward to tweek out my Winnie before buying one of these... Wonder if they'll make a 146 or 148 for the 939 socket - allready seen these and 150 for 940.

they're going to be placed in the same price bracket at their athlon64 compatriots, the 148 is not going to be 300 bucks

OMG droooool 😛

lol .. just over a days work for me to afford one of those, if they are going to be about £115 that is 😀

Id still wanna X2, but this could be the last crusade of the single core .. hmm . would a BIOS upgrade be needed to comfortably run these (is thee going to be one), or would working REV-e BIOS?s be ok?

You don't even have to wait. You can get any S940 Opteron and snip the pin off, it'll work in ANY S939 mobo. Tried it for myself.

The 148 boxed version is in stock at ewiz.com for $285- They also have the 150 and 152 in stock. These ARE for socket 939. I would imagine the 144 and 146 would be coming soon!!! I hope!! Prices should go $145-$150 for 144 and $200-$210 for 146.

I thought all the Opteron's were 940 pins and would not work in a 939. Vegitto, which pin do you snip off? I have never heard of doing that.

Nice Chase - thanks for the info - but i do reside in Slovakia (Central Europe) i am glad if i can get a 144 - though ive seen some 146-150 but s940 only.

Now there is a series of s939 SingleCore Opterons runnig the San Diego core under their hood. So now u can have an Opteron on s939 and u do not have to snip off a single pin... nice 🙂

Yoo Chase,
just had a look at the ewiz.com: now i am realy mad - 148 for 285$ as u allready said and its even boxed!! The only s939 Opteron i can get here is 144 bulk for some 200$ or 3700SD for 340$... 🙁
