I just got a new asus P4GE-V, P4 1.8A, 256MB Mushkin PC2700 DDR (tests good with memtest), Im using my old Maxtor 13 gig hard drive (never had any problems). When I set all the BIOS speeds at normal... FSB = 266MHz, CPU = 1.8GHz, CPU external frequency =100MHz - everything runs fine. But as soon as I raise the CPU external frequency to 101MHz Windows wont load and the BIOS screen says hard drive error. Disabling UDMA didnt help. So is my hard drive maxed out? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

One this to keep in mind is the age of each component, and the age of your bios. When was the last time you flashed it, or flashed other components that might be out of date. I can not offer a solid solutiuon other than you should check to make sure that the dates of things are new.

The mobo is so new, it still has that new mobo smell :) I think the mobo BIOS is a couple months old. The hard drive is a few years old, its the only "old" component in the system, except for the floppy drive. Everything else is less than a year old.
I also wanted to mention that Im using an 80 pin cable on the hard drive.
Can anyone confirm my idea that the hard drive is the problem?
Thanks :)
