OC Newb Question: XP 2500+ or XP 2600+

Okay, I've read hella lot regarding Barton core on XP 2500+, too much that I'd say. The more I read, the more confused I get 😛 [well, first attempt on OC, unfamiliar with terms and procedures]. However, I didn't find much discussion on XP 2600+.

So, please help me out with these quick simple questions to decide my purchasing. Athlon XP 2500+ and 2600+ are on sale at Fry's, which one is better in terms of OC? Also, I currently have 2 sticks of Kingston Value PC2700 rams, do I need better rams to OC the one of the CPU to 3200+ or 3400+, and is it possible to get the work done with my current sticks? Lastly, my friend will give me an used-but-still-working-fine MSI Delta-L Mobo if I need it, but is the K7VTA3/n2u400a Nforce good enough?

ok if your looking to OC go too newegg and get your self a Mobile Barton 2400. these things rock. most will do 2.2-2.4 in thier sleep, and with a little voltage 2.6+
 
hahaha the mobile bartons are sold at at newegg now

but the 2500+ and the 2600+ will oc about the same
so it doesn't really matter which one you get

yeah i am looking to get a new cpu now myself
 
Actually the Mobile Barton 2500+ is better because it's VCore is 0.20 lower then the other mobiles. MORE OC!!!! 😀

Thanks for answering my question, now about the RAMS, should I really get sticks of PC3200, or the pair of Kingston PC2700 is sufficient to get the Barton to XP 3200+? What about the mobo? Also, would anyone please recommend a site/link/forum that covers all the discussion about vcore, voltage, fsb, and everything else that's related to OC'in to get myself familiarized? Thanks again.

Edit: What is the diff between mobile XP and XP only?
 
Well, if you wanted to run your memory at a 1:1 ratio with the CPU, you're going to want PC-3200 RAM at least to match up with your OC'ed 2500+ (it'll be running at 200fsb)
However, if you don't want to spend extra money on pc3200 memory, stick with your current memory, but it will be running at a different ratio (3:4 memory:cpu) something like that, I'm not sure of the exact numbers because I've never done that myself
but it's supposed to be best to run 1:1, so your call
 
The 2500+ receives so much attention 'cause it's cheapest of the Barton chip series, very stable and overclockable. If you're on a budget and want to save money but not sacrifice performance, I'd definitely go with the 2500+. I've heard nothing but good reviews on it. I got mine from Newegg 'cause they rock! Their retail chip is selling for $80 now.
