OC-ing an old P4 3.0ghz

So I'm no longer new to overclocking, but this board is a bit old, and I've mainly got experience OC-ing newer cpu's, on newer mobo's.

As I examined this system I immediatly ran into some pecularity's though, as show by this screenshot. It's running hot, isn't it ? Temp 2 went up from low 50's to 62 in 1.5 minutes. I'm actually not sure what temp4 is, is that the NB temperature ? It didn't move, but that's hot too, right? As far as that goes, I think the case needs cleaning and perhaps the cpu and NB cooler need reseating.

Now, the mobo, as you can see cpu-z recognizes it, be it a IS7, IS7-E or IS7-G, I guess screwing it open will identify which 1 it is exactly. Now, the biggest concern, does it have a PCI-lock, since I'm not used to older mobo's and do still have to learn a thing or two. I don't think it actually has 1, because trying the mild OC at a fsb of 220, changed 2 other numbers from 66 and 33 to 62 and 30 ? I read that if it isn't locked, you have to lock it manually, or something like that, and if you don't you could be in for some serious HD data corruption ? Hence my post :)

The ram is holding up fine at the mild OC, but the mobo actually does have ram dividers you can manually set so that shouldn't be to much of a problem.

If you are using the stock HSF unit then those temps are pretty normal for full load, I have a 3.06 Northwood running at 3.45ghz and it normally approches 65c under full load with the stock HSF unit, same goes for my 3.0ghz Prescott which runs at 3.4ghz, both CPU's have idle temps around 47-52c, the prescott is a little higher but still with in that temp range.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. but if you are get a better HSF unit, it should lower temps by 7-10c over the stock cooler.

I used to have that motherboard and a p4 2.8 overclocked to 3.5. If you still need some help head to the link in my sig and I'll give you a hand. Plus, some of the guys there have been overclocking for years, this would be a challenge for us. :)

What link ? The overclocking wiki forums ? Couldn't find anything there about the IS7. Could you tell me if it has a PCI-lock ?
