Are there still anyone using one of these 1st Gen Duo2Core Mobos?

I can't seem to go past the 333~340 FSB barrier after that it doesn't boot (POST)

i wanted to try combinations of 400 FSB and 500 FSB multipliers, but regardless of combination, using 400 ~ 500 FSB will not even boot at 6x

I'm trying to past the 3.5 ~ 3.6 Ghz barrier on air.

I know my CPU can go up to 4 Ghz on water, but wont bother getting a water kit unless i can know for sure i can get it past 3.5~3.6 Ghz stable

i've been upping voltage along the line

the voltage is 0.037v ~ 0.038v per clock multiplier or equivalent Ghz i've set it as far high as 1.47v (aprox) which technically should be more than enough for 3.6 Ghz to run stable.

  • Base Reference Table
    1.163 6 266 1596
    1.201 7 266 1862
    1.239 8 266 2128
    1.277 9 266 2394
    1.315 10 266 2660
    1.353 11 266 2926
    1.391 12 266 3192
    1.429 13 266 3458
    1.467 14 266 3724
    1.505 15 266 3990
    1.543 16 266 4256
I know it's not heat related, since even running at 3.46 Ghz stable is only 56c at max CPU load.

I've got the latest BIOS installed, so i'm wondering if it's the mobo itself, or what else is preventing it from going past 340 FSB to boot.

The RAM is good for 400(800)

As previously posted on another topic i'm successful in Booting and run stable at 10x333 (for a long time), but it was inconsistent with 11x333

so i was toying with the idea of 7x500 or 9x400

any "round" number that matches the RAM runs stable, i've got it to run at 13x270 somewhat stable, but i rather use a good rounded whole number.

Any ideas?

since you are using a c2d x6800, you should be able to just up the multiplier to gain extra mhz. then set the maximum rated voltage your RAM can handle (mine is 2.2v), and put your cpu vcore to 1.45v (i dont go higher than that especially on air cooling), then finally, start pumping the fsb. you should be able to get to 3.6Ghz no problem.

So far i've got it to 3.5 stable, more or less

but still having some problems trying to get 3.6, still trying multiple combinations of clock / fsb / etc

my RAM can go up to 2.1v and i did try 1.46v for core, but it didn't seem to make any difference

all the combinations i've tried will not POST (Boot), not sure what is missing

the highest clock multiplier is 13x
