OC genie causes video files to stop playback

I tried to overclock a p55-gd65 main board, i7-860 2.8ghz, 16gb ram, radeon hd 5770 with the main boards overclock genie button to improve 4k & 1080p playback and video editing. The processor got turned to 3.5ghz and everything seemed fine but 4k &1080p videos completely stopped playing back, where before they would just stutter every often. This goes for playback on vlc latest build, powerdvd, and sony movie studio platinum 13. Turning oc genie off fixes the problem. Why won't the videos play when overclocked?

Very strange, I've been running that same board for many years overclocked with a 180MHz BCLK and ever had any playback issues like that. In fact that MB/CPU should be able to handle 4K and 1080p video without stuttering at stock.

Are you using any kind of hardware acceleration for playback?

When you say stopped playing, does the player crash? have you tied other players?

PCI-E bus running too fast?
