I Don't get it. I read all this hype about the 6300 OCs so well and the P5B with latest BIOS OCs it very well. So I purchase them with 1GB or Corsair XMS2 PC6400 memory (All I could afford), and I can't get squat out of this combo. If I set the FSB higher than about 275 windows starts rebooting after a while. My CPU even standard speed runs 41C Idle even after I put a thermake decent Cooler on it. (I've seen people say stock cooler will get you 2.5GHz. I wonder if these are rare exceptions to the rule.
The e6300 is unlocked down so will go 7 or 6. What good is that. I would think the $150 memory would run OCed.
I've tried increasing voltages based on many posts and the CPU gets over 50c and windows blue screens. I've locked PCI and PCIe bus speeds to standard etc..
I think OC is overrated and would have been better spending extra $40 or $100 to get better CPU and cheaper board instead of buying more $$ board to OC cheaper CPU. Plus add the extra $35 for heatsink.
Anyone had these issues and would like to help me out? SHould I have gotten faster memory? If so then it would be better to spend the extra money on faster CPU and not memory to OC.
Thanks
