I have tryed to OC my CPU for the last 3 days now and I cant get it to OC at all. I really need help its driven me crazy. I am kinda new to OC so any help would be appreciated. I have done so much research I am about to cry lol so I saw alot of ppl postng at this fourm and everyone seem to try to help ppl so here I am

Specs

Intel E2160
Gigabyte P35-DS3L
K DATA 3G DDR
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT

Here is what I have tryed so far its alot so bare with me and like I said kinda noobish with this OC stuff. I will post some of the stuff I tryed in Bios below

CPU Enhanced Halt (CIE) = Disabled
CPU Thermal Monitor 2 (TM2) = Disabled

Robust Graphic Booster Auto
CPU Clock Ratio 9X Tryed x8 with the mhz att 333 and for some reason it under clock the card to 1.6 when it should have been 2.66
CPU Host Clock Control Enabled
CPU Host Frequencey (mhz) 333 Tryed everything to OC from 2.0 all the way to 3.0 it just wont OC at all
PCI Express Frequency (mhz) auto Tryed 100
C.I.A.2 Disabled
Performance enhance standard Tryed Turbo at x9 and 333 mhz just to see what happen no change
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) [2.40] tryed auto and everything els. i tryed to get it as close to 800 800 when I OC. Also for some reason when I do Try to OC when I restart sometime it will show the Ram at like 480 or 680 and so on even tho I have it set to 800 800 or 800 1330 or whatever it is
Memory Frequency (Mhz) 800 800
DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) [manual]
CAS Latency Time 5 [5] Tryed 4 when i tryed the 4 4 4 12 it wouldnt boot
DRAM RAS# to CAS# 5 [5] Tryed 4
DRAM RAS# Precharge 5 [5] Tryed 4
Precharge delay(tRAS) 18 [18] Tryed12
ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD) 3 [Auto]
Rank Write to READ Delay 3 [Auto]
Write to Precharge Delay 6 [Auto]
Refresh to ACT Delay 42 [Auto]
Read to Precharge Delay 3 [Auto]
Static tRD 7 [Auto]
Static tRD Phase Adjustment 0 [Auto]

System Voltage Control [Manual]
Ddr2/ddr3 OverVoltage Control [Manual]
PCI-E OverVoltage Control [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control [Manual]
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [Manual]
CPU Voltage Control [1.45000] I also tryed 1.4,1.42,1.50 on everytime I tryed to OC. Even tryed to OC it at 2.4 with 1.45 Voltage and still nothing I cant even OC it to 2.0 from 1.8
Normal CPU Vcore 1.32500V

Like I said if anyone is willing to work with me here id love the help. I dont know what I am doing wrong I read that this cpu and MB works great to OC it to 3.0 but the computer just wont do it. My friend said it was easy all you have to do is set it to x9 at 333 and make the ram 2.40 so it reads 800 800 and give it some more Voltage and it should be easy as that. This post is my last hope before I go insane so please help me. I try about anything to get this to work i have spent over 20 hours trying to get this to OC in the last 3 days even with research.

hold on...editing...

More info on the ram. DRAM timings to auto, Dram overvoltage to auto until you can OC the CPU.

What heatsink?

I have tryed Normal on the Ddr2/ddr3 OverVoltage Control and tryed .1v and .2v
have 2 sticks of 512 and 2 sticks of 1g
I use stock heatsink, I dont think I have a temp problem tho since I cant even get it to over clock yet and when I turn the cpu Voltage to 1.425 my computer stayed on for about 4 hours np. only tested it for that long while doing research to see if it would over heat the CPU but it didnt. I also have 7 fans in my case for good circulation and have my case door open. hope that what you ment bye more Ram info not sure what els would matter.

i would recommend getting a nice aftermarket cooler for your OC adventure. there's a OC core 2 sticky in this forum, see if that explains everything. and yes, your board+cpu combo will work nicely to 3ghz unless your cpu is somewhat limited. what are the ram speed ratings on the 4 sticks you are using?

not sure how to find ram speed ratings but in CPU-Z
Dram Frequency 400.00 MHZ
FSB1:2
Cas# Latency 5
Ras# to Cas # Delay 5
Ras# Precharge 5
cycle time 18

Start with something simple. Load Optimized Defaults in your CMOS and then save and reboot. Re-enter BIOS, and set the CPU Host Clock Control to Enabled, and then punch in 220 for the FSB (default should be 200). Disable C1E and EIST. Leave TM2 enabled. Save CMOS, exit. Boot windows, load CPU-Z, you should see the CPU speed something faster, and bus speed of 220.

If that works, then we know that your hardware is allowing you to overclock, and that you don't have "the gigabyte OC bug".

From then on, it's an iterative process. Before you start, change your memory ratio to 2.00, and set your memory timings to 5-5-5-15. Set voltages to manual.

Then increase your FSB by 10, boot into Windows, run Prime95 to stress-test, if it doesn't fail within 10 minutes, then go back into the BIOS and adjust your FSB upwards again.

If Prime95 does fail, then increase your vcore and test again.

Then repeat. Eventually, you will reach a point when temps or vcore get excessive, or the chip just won't go any faster. Then you want to decrease your FSB slightly, for stability, and then call it done. Do a 24hr Prime95 test to make sure. To make doubly sure, do one 24hr small FFT, and one 24hr large FFT.

Did everything you said Larry, and got nothing. first I Load Optimized Defaults and tryed to OC it just a bit to 220 and Disable the C1E and the EIST. Went into CPU-Z and its still showing 1.8 no chnage at all

I have the exact same CPU/mobo configuration (E2160 + P35-DS3L) and I can overclock to 3.0GHz (9 x 333) easily. Would your RAM configuration be holding you back 3 x DDR2? I would take out 1 stick of RAM so you are running just dual-channel 2 x 1GB and try again. Also what speed is your DDR2 RAM rated at (link to newegg maybe)?

Also I have a feeling you are doing this too aggressively:

1. Trying to set K-DATA RAM at 4-4-4-12 before you can even get a stable overclock...come on let's be sensible here.
2. System Memory Multiplier (SPD) should set to 2.0 or whatever so it runs 1:1. You have no idea how much your RAM can be pushed.
3. PCI Express Frequency (mhz) set to 100MHz/101MHz unless you want to fry your 8800GT.
4. Also from your first post, seems you are shooting for 3.0GHz right off the bat and it's obviously not working. You need to start low like 2.0GHz, 2.5GHz, etc. and adjust vcore accordingly.

As VirtualLarry indirectly indicated you're doing this in an unorganized fashion introducing too many variables in the process.

That's a very bad sign. That means that the overclocking is broken on your motherboard. You might want to try an RMA.

When i try to run my Ram at 4 4 4 12 the computer will not power on in full it acts like it wants to turn on and then it just sits there. I even let it sit there for a few min i had to turn off my computer like 4 times before it would turn back on. Weird thing was in bio it still showed 4 4 4 12. I guess i can take a stick of ram out and try it but i really dont think that has anything to do with it if i had a bad stick of ram my computer wouldnt be stable anyways in the first place hell i might be wrong so ill try anything at this point.

one other thing I forgot to say is at one time i had it overclock at 2.6 and it was working fine and then one day it randomy went back to 1.8. Not sure why i didnt say this before hand but maybe this will clear some things up.

Sidix11, using 4 sticks of RAM for example is said to place more strain on the North Bridge. That was the reasoning behind me telling you to remove 1 stick so you can just run in dual-channel mode instead of using 3 slots. Also as mentioned before it's not a good idea to run at such aggressive timings 4-4-4-12. Take it back to 5-5-5-18 or whatever it was stock due to your brand not being one of those "top/premium" brands (for lack of better words).

Thanks for mentioning in your last post regarding the clockspeed resetting. I had the same problem when 3.0GHz jumped back down to 1.8GHz for no apparent reason. I resolved this by adding a slight increase to vcore and it's stayed at 3.0GHz for the longest time. If you've been tweaking your BIOS settings too much, it might be wise to reset back to default/remove power-battery and do it over again, one step at a time.
