OC Duron 650?

What do you think I could get out of this? I upped voltage to 1.85 (the max as far as I know), the multiplier to 9x, and the FSB to 103. I am cooling with a Alpha PEP66 (the old kind that you had to cut the legs off), and cooling with 2 80mm PanaFlos (the quieter version).

Mostly every Duron hit's 1GHz as a general rule with the Voltage @ 1.85 and solid cooling. I'd if u have 133fsb support, and good RAM, up the fsb to 150MHz, and lower the multiplier to 6.5 (975MHz), or 7.0 (1050MHz). If not just push the fsb to max, and set the multiplier accordingly.

Which is more "flexible", changing the multiplier or changing the FSB. I have 1 stick of 256 MB Crucial PC133 CAS3 and 2 sticks of 128 MB Kingston ValueRAM PC133 CAS3.

What do you mean by Flexible?

More frontside bus for the same overall speed will be faster...

Ex. 100*10=1Ghz slower than 150*6.5=975 Faster

Generally, upping the FSB will increase the performance of other components in ur system. Overall performance is achieved.

Upping the multiplier only increase the speed of the CPU. So, u decide.

But a good O/Cing involves the combination of multiplier & FSB. U have to try different combination to hit the "sweet spot".

Happy O/Cing.

On the Asus A7V, I can only choose the FSB speed to be 100 or 133 through the BIOS. Can I set jumpers to set the FSB to 150? Also, what about setting the timing for RAM (trying to do 2 ns vs 3 ns)?

A KT133 mobo rarely go beyond 110 FSB, so up ur multiplier is the best option. Try to O/C in small increment, jumping to 150 FSB will not help...as mostly probably u will suffered "no POST".

RAM timing...depends on the amount tht u O/C. Generally, CAS 3 allowed u to O/C higher as the RAm is less aggresive.

To answer at least part of the question, I know for a fact that you can set a max of 133fsb through jumpers. Setting voltage with jumpers on the Asis os far more stable than with bios. Which method used seems to make little difference in stability when setting fsb though.

But... I thought the max fsb was 100 on the A7V. Don't you need the A7V133 to get 133 fsb??
