OC 1GHZ T-Bird (Problems?)

Hi,

I read a lot about overclocking in this forum and just tried to to it by myself.
I unlocked my 1GHz T-Bird with a defogger repair kit, which was relatively easy
and I also changed the FSB and the multiplier. The system is running stable at
105FSB x 10.5 multiplier @ 1.75V (1102 MHz). My problem now is that I can't boot
with higher FSB or higher multiplier, yes I also raised the voltage to try it.
Are there any "tricks" to get the FSB higher (11.5 would be great).

System: Asus A7V rev1.03, 1004D BIOS; GlobalWin Heatsink with quite 80mm Fan (temp ~47)

Thanks!

The first glaring thing I see is the voltage being too low. Most of the 1GHz that I take to 1.2, need 1.85v to get there.
Week 51 and 52 were tough for me. I had some that would not break the speed you are now at.

Do that and try 12 x 100. If that works, gradually bring up the FSB til you find the max.

Also, is that an FOP32-1 cooler? Don't use thermal paste with the thermal pad. Preferably remove the pad and all traces of it and get some good thermal compound for it. Arctic Silver is best, when used properly. 🙂

I changed the voltage to 1.8 and to 1.85 when I tried to
raise FSB and/or multiplier.
It is a week 50 CPU. Don't know if this is good or bad?
It is a FOP38 Heatsink, I could not stand the noise so I made an 60
to 80mm Adapter to use a quiter fan with the same cooling effect as
the Delta fan (temperatur only raised 2c and it is sooo quite).
I removed the pad and applied Arctic Silver.

Tomorrow I will try 12 x 100 and see what happens.
Thanks.

I set the voltage to 1.85 and started
with 12 x 100, turned the pc on and
nothing happened, then i tried 11 x 100
and nothing happened. black screen.
10.5 x 105 is still working fine.
what can i do?

hmmmm just updated the bios to 1005D
tried to raise the multiplier from
10.5 to 11 (with 100FSB) but still no go.
(only black screen)
🙁

Try removing all the loctite defogger paint with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover, then redo them. My guess is you got a poor connection on at least one of them. The last posible thing is, you just got a chip that doesn't want to dance.

Yes, that could be.(Although it looked perfect)
Will try it one more time tomorrow. If it won't go higher
I still have 102MHz more than before. Better than nothing.
