another newbie question..
stepping unknown and will recieve it next week

First time to build a system myself...
and reading this forums for quite a long time..

A few question...

1. Do I need to use pencil to close both L1 and L7 bridge or just only L1 ?
2. what highest muliplier can a AMD 760 mb w/ 1 G 266 t-bird take ?
3. Do I stablize the FSB first or multipler first ?

thanks

You will have to pencil in the L1 bridges; if it doesn't unlock the first time, erase and try again. Use a sharp pencil. I don't know what motherboard you are using, so I can't make any other recommendations. The L7 bridges are for voltage, and the L6 bridges will fix the multiplier, but many motherboards come with dip switches or multiplier adjustments in the bios.

from my experience, i would stablize the FSB first b/c you want to make sure your AGP,PCI buses are stable. once you get that stablize the FSB, then use a combination of both the FSB and Multiplier(steps) to see how far you can go. also, don't forget to increase the voltage as well.

when unlocking my CPU, i simply used a pencil, just have to be careful not to connect any bridges side to side. i hear conductive pens are nice too, but again, pencils are way cheaper.

have fun
