Obtaining MS replacement media

Thanks in advance!

I tagged this question to another thread, I apologize if I did the wrong thing. Kinda new to forums.

My question is: Has anyone here had any luck with getting Vista replacement DVD's with SP1, or SP2 integrated directly from Microsoft?

The reason I ask is, I recently purchased Windows 7 Retail and as the SP's come out, I would like to get a disc from MS with the latest service pack integrated.

Has anyone had luck with this? And if so, how much did it cost?

Again, thanks!

I did both the SP1 (before SP2) and SP2 media, just received my SP2 discs a few weeks ago. Cost around $10 plus some change for each. Retail product versions only (full or upgrade), no OEM versions will qualify.

Tcsenter,

Thanks a ton for responding! I am very glad to hear that I will be able to get new media with the service packs already integrated. I do have the full retail version of Windows 7, thankfully. 😀

In your estimation, how long does it usually take them after the SP has been released to the public to phase out the old discs and start shipping the new SP integrated ones for part replacement?

Again, thanks a ton, my friend! 🙂

Tcsenter,

I forgot to ask in my previous question:

When you spoke with MS, did you have to request the SP integrated version of the media specifically?

As you can tell, I want to make sure all my ducks are in a row.

Again, thanks a ton! You rock! 🙂

IIRC, the replacement media program was primarily intended for owners who had purchased 32-bit discs but wanted 64-bit discs. It wasn't really for providing install discs with service packs integrated, per se.

If purchase Win 7 retail, both 32-bit and 64-bit media is included, so I'm not sure they will even continue to offer this program. You can't request the SP level. You get the discs that MS is offering. I'm not sure how much lag there was between SP release and availability of discs with the SP integrated through this program. I ordered mine a few months after the SP was released.
