Will it be possible to keep my current atx case (chieftec Matrix) for several years to come and just keep upgrading my pc components? Or is btx gonna take over? (...btx is so ugly)
I really love my case and I want to keep using it for like 5+ years

I said 2 years ago when I was going to my Athlon XP system that I better not buy a new ATX case because BTX sounds like it could be big and out before I get a good use out of this machine.

About 1 week ago, I purchased a new ATX case because BTX seems to have died before it lived. There seems to be very little talk about BTX taking a hold in the market.

I doubt BTX will get anywhere soon, your case will definately last at least the next two years.

It's not going to happen anytime soon, don't worry about it. I think it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation right now: motherboard manufacturers won't make mobos in BTX until BTX cases officially start selling, and vice versa. If anyone goes BTX, it would probably be Intel and their motherboards, and since most of us have AMD, it won't affect us ;)

Until we start seeing more than one Dell with BTX or a BTX theme, don't worry about it.

That's what I've been hoping for.

My Lian Li PC-60 is a year old at this point, and I expect it to last at least as long as the components within (having just got the X2 4400+, I hope that it lasts four years - enough to get me through college). At that point I may the go with BTX if it hasn't been forgotten completely (anyone rememer WTX?). ;)
