They have alot of members that are inactive according to http://setiatwork.com/cgi-bin/wkystat.pl?group=Broadband+Reports+Team+Starfire

They do NOT have many big Producers, they only have 31 members over
the 10.000 wu barrier ~ Anandtech have 55 members over that.

What they have is Bandai who has a lot of firepower

All we have to do is to get Bandai to quit BBR J/K ;)
No seriously if it were not for him, they would pose no threat !!!

But if we manage, a recruitment drive like the one we did last time, we
would be well underway

It does suck that one member can shift the ballance of power like that.

If you want a more drastic examle look at SETI@Netherlands. Same situation as BBR except they have 2 Bandai like members and their top 9 members accounted for over 64% of their WU total during the last week. Add in their #10 and #11 producers over the last week and you have over 68% being produced boy their top 11. In contrast the top 11 producers for Team Anandtech last week only produced a little under 24% of the teams total production.

He has access to LOTS of PCs, think 1000 PCs. :Q

Why would Bandai want to quit? He's already on the best team out there
NOT!

I dunno, I've been following both teams production for 6 months or so, casually. It seems that we've stayed pretty much neck and neck with you, except for the race, where your fine recruitment blew us away. Before the race we were gaining on ya'll, and after, we seem to have stayed about 40k behind.

(edit... I must not be paying much attention, could've swore just a few weeks ago TA was about 40k ahead, I just checked Seti@work, it says TA is 221k ahead!!!!) OK, so call me an idiot.....

Unless I'm missing the boat here terribly, we seem to be doing alright.... ;) ;) Our strength seems to lay in our up and coming middle ranks, where we have dozens pumping out some pretty good numbers. A lot of them are coming out of there own pockets, too!

Anyway, keep up the fine crunching!!!

Hey, Paul! Yup, we're really trailing the tEaM in the overall rankings. I think they pulled away by almost 1/2 a million WUs before Bandai kicked in the nitro. I've tried telling them it is a fluke, to just take it easy and cool the processors, but they didn't buy it.

The other benefit we've got for us at BBR is that we've got our members back from the Buddy payback and that helps a lot. Also have some extra WU getting kicked in by the Honor Guard (until next week) so that helps, too. Now, if we can only keep it up, we might be able to stomp these guys....but, it won't get easy. When the going gets tough these guys get going.

Hey guys! :)

Time for a recruiting trip again...:D

Also, if ECCp or RC5 end, then maybe we'll get a little boost in the SETI Dept (along with Genome, Folding, UD and the others too!)! :)

Oh, did I mention it's time to go recruiting again! :Q

Let's not forget the blessing we have in "Cygor and Cobra" contributing to the TA effort. :)

But I do agree that with us having our daily production come from MANY members of the TeAm, a single catastrophe won't wipe out all of our production. ;) Okay, so having the Seti servers at Berkeley go down would cause problems for us, but that would cause problems for all SETI teams.
