Going back to finally finish this game, what is the best order to do things in, go spelunking out in caves to level up and THEN the storyline or what? Thanks.

Me too.
They all seem so pointless after you save the land.

So if a person is starting a new game I'd recommend beating every side quest and random cave, then clear as many Oblivion gates as you can before going insane, THEN go ahead with the main quest. It will seem bigger because with your high levels, all the monsters will be high level too.
