I've got an annoying bug in my Oblivion game. I'm running Oscuro's 1.33, and I think that may have something to do with it.

Anyway, it's a quest bug. Early in the main quest, when I accompany Baurus to get Book Four in the sewers, something odd happens. Once Baurus and I clean up the attacking enemies, Baurus proceeds to attack me! He never accepts my yield. He attacks me no matter what, even though he continues to spew his friendly dialogue as if the quest is continuing as it should.

Is there a way to use the console command box to set this portion of the quest to "completed" somehow?

There was another bug too... with this quest. Normally, Baurus is supposed to find you in the Imperial City and ask you to follow him to the sewers. Well, in my game, Baurus suddenly appeared in a cave halfway across Cyrodiil! He told me to follow him. So, guess how long THAT took... following that dumbass at walking speed from near Leyawiin to Imperial City.

I'm beginning to think that Oscuro's is full of crap, but I can't stomach the idea of playing the game without his many improvements, especially to the levelling system. Grrr.

something is either wrong with your install (maybe some conflicting mods?) or that version of OOO is buggy (1.32 seemed to work ok for me).

personally I use a more complex setup: FCOM with OOO + Frans + MMM and haven't had a problem like that before.

If your quest is fudged up because of mods I can only suggest you uninstall the mods.

As for waiting a long time while an NPC walks slowly, you could try to increase his speed.

Gamefaqs.com has cheat codes for changing the stats of anybody, yourself or NPC's.

i'll go check that out. I totally forgot about gamefaqs. As far as mods, well the only one i have is OOO at the moment... but even with NO mods my game has issues. I've reinstalled it a dozen times. I can only guess there's a hardware conflict someplace... I get CTD every couple minutes. Makes no sense.... 8800GT, current drivers, strong computer etc. Whatever. anyway... I think I can use the console to give myself uber strength; then when Baurus comes at me, I'll lay him out and then run away. Perhaps he'll end up where he needs to be after that. Or not.

I ran into this myself while playing without any mods installed. Baurus would attack me...etc. I save quite often so I simply reloaded a few save games and I think I tried a couple different approaches to that level (choosing different dialogue...etc.) and I got through it. Was definitely annoying though.

That was a long time ago, back when the game was first released. Since then I've installed over 40 mods including OOO and the game has almost never had a fatal bug from what I can tell. It's fairly stable as well. Definitely get QTP3 if you don't have it already and Exnems or Corwyn's beauty packs.

Are you overclocking anything? The OC may not be as stable as you think. It crashes for me after a couple of hours of play (probably the usual memory and resource leaks most games have) but not every few minutes.

That was my first guess, so I set both the GPU and CPU back to stock speeds. No change in the behavior whatsoever. When I do have everything overclocked, I've never had any issues with any games... then Oblivion crashes no matter what.

Anyway I got past the hangup with Baurus. I used the console to set his disposition towards me to 100. He didn't try to kick my ass anymore.
